GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  PER REF (A), THE PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION (PME) REQUIREMENT FOR PROMOTION TO FIRST SERGEANT OR MASTER SERGEANT IS COMPLETION OF BOTH THE MCI STAFF NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICER ACADEMY DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM (SNCOADEP) AND RESIDENT SNCO ADVANCED COURSE PROGRAM.  THE COLLEGE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION AND TRAINING (CDET) IN COORDINATION WITH ENLISTED PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION BRANCH, MARINE CORPS UNIVERSITY, HAS DEVELOPED THE MARINENET INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA INSTRUCTION ADVANCED COURSE DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM (ACDEP) TO PROVIDE GUNNERY SERGEANTS ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS TO BETTER PERFORM THEIR DUTIES AND TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE COURSE OF STUDY AND PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE RESIDENT ADVANCED COURSE.  THE MARINENET ACDEP (EPME7000AA) WILL REPLACE THE SNCOADEP MCI (MCI 8200).
2.  THE NEW ACDEP HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT THE RESIDENT COURSE PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION AS A PREREQUISITE TO ATTENDING THE RESIDENT ADVANCED COURSE.  THE ACDEP WILL ESTABLISH A BASELINE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE RESIDENT COURSE.  ADDITIONALLY, IT LEVERAGES COMPUTER BASED TRAINING TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE INTERACTIVE, MULTIMEDIA SUPPORT TO THE GUNNERY SERGEANT.  THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 18 LESSONS WITHIN FIVE SUB-COURSES AS A MARINENET CURRICULUM:
(1) ADMINISTRATION (EMPE7100AA)
(2) TRAINING (EPME7200AA)
(3) WARFIGHTING I (EMPE7300AA)
(4) WARFIGHTING II (EMPE7310AA)
(5) LEADERSHIP (EPME7400AA)
3.  COMPLETING THE NEW ACDEP REQUIRES GUNNERY SERGEANTS TO:
A.  ENROLL IN THE ACDEP CURRICULUM (EPME7000AA) ON MARINENET (WWW.MARINENET.USMC.MIL).  THIS WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENROLL THE MARINE IN ALL FIVE SUB-COURSES.
B.  COMPLETE EACH COURSE AND ITS ASSOCIATED EXAMINATION.  ONCE THE MARINE HAS NAVIGATED ALL LESSONS WITHIN A SPECIFIED COURSE, A RANDOMIZED END OF COURSE EXAMINATION WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENT THROUGH MARINENET.  ALL END OF COURSE EXAMINATIONS WILL REQUIRE A PROCTOR.  ALL LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC) FACILITATORS CAN PROCTOR ACDEP EXAMS. ADDITIONALLY, ANY MARINE SENIOR IN RANK TO THE STUDENT CAN PROCTOR THE ACDEP EXAMS AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT ALSO ENROLLED IN THE ACDEP.  FOR SPECIAL CASES, THE ROLE OF THE PROCTOR MAY BE GRANTED FOR INDIVIDUALS EVEN IF NOT CURRENT MARINENET USERS.  THIS ROLE IS PRIMARILY USED TO PROVIDE PROCTORING CAPABILITY FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO LRC FACILITIES OR OTHER TRADITIONAL PROCTORS DUE TO LOCATION.  FOR ASSISTANCE WITH A SPECIAL PROCTOR, CONTACT THE MARINENET HELPDESK: 1-888-4DL-USMC, OPTION 2.
4.  WHEN ALL FIVE SUB-COURSES ARE COMPLETED THE STUDENT WILL HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE ACDEP (EPME7000AA). CURRICULUM COMPLETION WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DOCUMENTED IN MCTFS.
5.  THE NEW ACDEP IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.  GUNNERY SERGEANTS WHO COMPLETE THE ACDEP WILL BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE FOR SNCOA RESIDENT ADVANCED COURSE ENROLLMENT.
6.  EFFECTIVE 16 JANUARY 2012, THE CURRENT SNCOADEP (MCI 8200) WILL BE DISCONTINUED.  MARINES WHO ARE ENROLLED IN THE MCI WILL HAVE UNTIL 30 JUNE 2012 TO COMPLETE IT OR THEY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISENROLLED.  MARINES WHO COMPLETE THE MCI BEFORE 1 JULY 2012 WILL BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE FOR ENROLLMENT IN THE SNCOA RESIDENT ADVANCED COURSE UNTIL 30 JUNE 2013.
7.  BEGINNING 1 JULY 2013, MARINES WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ACDEP WITHIN ONE YEAR PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE SNCOA RESIDENT ADVANCED COURSE.  MARINES UNABLE TO ATTEND THE RESIDENT COURSE WITHIN THAT PERIOD WILL BE REQUIRED TO ENROLL AND RECOMPLETE THE ACDEP.  THIS ALLOWS RESIDENT INSTRUCTORS TO BEST LEVERAGE THE ACDEP PREREQUISITE.
8.  STUDENTS MAY CHOOSE TO VOLUNTARILY DISENROLL FROM THE MCI IN ORDER TO ENROLL IN THE NEW MARINENET ACDEP.
9.  RESERVE COMPONENT MARINES WHO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE NEW ACDEP WILL RECEIVE 16 RESERVE RETIREMENT CREDITS.
10.  THE NEW ACDEP IS INTENDED TO PREPARE AND ENHANCE THE STUDENTS' RESIDENT COURSE EXPERIENCE.  ONLY MARINES IN THE GRADE OF GUNNERY SERGEANT (TO INCLUDE GUNNERY SERGEANT SELECT) OR ABOVE MAY ENROLL IN THIS COURSE.
11.  FOR QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE ACDEP, REVIEW THE ACDEP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AT THE CDET WEB PAGE. (WWW.TECOM.USMC.MIL/CDET/ADVANCE(UNDERSCORE)COURSE.ASP) OR CONTACT THE MARINENET HELP DESK.
