GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  HAPPY 237TH ANNIVERSARY TO THE WORLD'S GREATEST NAVY!  KNOW THAT ALL MARINES JOIN YOU IN CELEBRATING YOUR PROUD LEGACY AND ARE HONORED TO SERVE WITH YOU.
2.  SINCE 13 OCTOBER 1775, THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE U.S. NAVY HAVE SUPPORTED AND DEFENDED OUR REPUBLIC WITH UNDAUNTED COURAGE AND UNREMITTING RESOLVE.  THIS YEAR MARKS THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WAR OF 1812 AND THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIGHT FOR GUADALCANAL AND THE SOLOMON ISLANDS IN WORLD WAR II.  BOTH OF THESE CONFLICTS EPITOMIZE THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN MARINES AND SAILORS FIGHTING TO OVERCOME CHALLENGING ODDS AND DEFEND FREEDOM.  TODAY, WITH THE SAME COMMITMENT, TEAMWORK AND SELFLESS ATTITUDE, THE U.S. NAVY CONTINUES TO SUBSTANTIALLY IMPACT THE SECURITY AND STABILITY OF OUR GREAT NATION.
