GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Marine Families are the epitome of strength, resiliency, and sacrifice, and through the many challenges of military life, they have never wavered in their support. They are true patriots that support those wearing the uniform and build the readiness of other Marine Corps Families. The Marine Corps Family is worthy of celebration during Military Family Appreciation Month to honor their extraordinary resolve and contributions.
2.  Military Family Appreciation Month began in 1993 when the Armed Services YMCA wanted to recognize the significant contribution, dedication, and sacrifice that families make in support of the military. The observance was endorsed by the President of the United States and has been recognized by the U.S. Government every year since. Commands are encouraged to show gratitude through appropriate special events and activities focused on the Marine Corps Family.
3.  D'Arcy and I know first-hand the extraordinary resolve of the Marine Family in support of the war-fighter. The strength of the Marine Family through deployment, relocation, and separation allows Marines to stay mission focused. We are proud and share our heartfelt appreciation for every Marine Corps Family. Together, we recognize the month of November as Military Family Appreciation Month.
