GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Congratulations to all award winners and participants who competed in the first annual Marine Corps Mobile Application Challenge (MCMCAC).  In accordance with the reference, these awards are the result of the Marine Corps’ challenge to Marines to build creative and innovative applications capable of running on either an Android or Apple device in order to further Marine Corps capabilities or the quality of life of Marines.
2.  The award recipients by category are:
2.A.  Mobile Application for Quality of Life category:  Developers:  1stLt Johnathon Marshall, MSgt Brantley Friend, Sgt Jonathon Kelly, Cpl William McClean, LCpl Alexander White, LCpl David Ervin, LCpl Cooper Hedtke from Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Air Wing with the application named “Okinawa Liberty App”.  The “Okinawa Liberty App” enhances a safe liberty experience in PACOM AOR (Japan) to equip Marines and Sailors with “rule sets,” regulations, customs, local attractions, and community information/alerts to help Marines navigate safely “outside the wire” while on liberty.
2.B.  Mobile Application for Physical Fitness category:  Developer:  CWO2 Jeffrey A. Dovan of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, 2nd Marine Air Wing for app named “SemperPT”.  “SemperPT” spans the spectrum of fitness to include nutrition and a work out of the day, provides a PFT/CFT calculator with physical fitness requirements as of 1 January 2017.
2.C.  Mobile Application for Warfighting category:  Developer:  Capt Christopher Curry of 3rd Marine Division for app named “Blue Order Team”.  “Blue Order Team” uses iPhone GPS/mapping to provide real-time satellite and topographic imagery interactive with unit icons, situational awareness template  overlays, tactical tasks overlays, and predetermined enemy templates for tactical map creation.  Developed maps are downloaded for offline use and can be emailed for collaboration.
3.  The awards were presented at the Charleston Defense Contractors Association (CDCA) C5ISR conference in Charleston, SC on 8 December 2016.
