GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The purpose of this MARADMIN is to publish guidance for an exemption to the enlisted Professional Military Education (PME) policy for Marines serving on Special Duty Assignments (SDA) and the associated relationship to enlisted promotion requirements.  The contents of this MARADMIN will be codified in references (a) and (b) via the formal change process.
2.  Completion of both non-resident and resident enlisted PME courses are required by the references as a building block approach to PME.  In the interest of providing a resident opportunity to as many Marines as possible and in recognition of the importance placed upon Marines serving as Drill Instructors (MOS 0911), Recruiters (MOS 8411), Marine Security Guards (MOS 8156), Marine Combat Instructors (MOS 0913), and Marine Corps Security Forces (MOSs 8152 and 8154), the following PME policy change is effective immediately.
3.  All Marines in the grade of sergeant, staff sergeant, and gunnery sergeant serving or have served in a SDA billet MOS of 0911, 8411, 8156, 0913, 8152, and 8154 will be exempt from completing the resident PME course requirement.  This exemption will remain in effect for a period not to exceed 365 days upon re-assignment from the SDA tour.
4.  Marines serving in an SDA billet MOS of 0911, 8411, 8156, 0913, 8152, and 8154 are still required to complete all non-resident PME requirements.
5.  Release authorized by LtGen Mark A. Brilakis, Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.//
