REMARKS/1.  EACH YEAR ON 11 NOVEMBER, OUR NATION PAUSES TO COMMEMORATE
THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE OF THOSE LOYAL PATRIOTS WHO HAVE WORN THE
UNIFORMS OF OUR ARMED FORCES.  WHETHER THEY SERVED ONE TERM OR AN ENTIRE
CAREER IN THE MILITARY, OUR VETERANS HAVE EARNED THE RESPECT AND
GRATITUDE OF THE NATION BY SELFLESSLY DEFENDING AMERICAN IDEALS AND
PROMOTING FREEDOM AROUND THE GLOBE.  VETERANS DAY OFFERS US AN
OPPORTUNITY AS A NATION TO REFLECT ON THE REMARKABLE LEGACY OF HONOR,
DEDICATION, AND HEROISM OUR VETERANS
HAVE BUILT OVER THE YEARS AND CONTINUE TO PERPETUATE TODAY.
2.  AS WE HONOR THE SELFLESSNESS OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS WHO HAVE
SERVED IN OUR ARMED FORCES, WE ONCE AGAIN FIND MANY OF OUR BROTHERS AND
SISTERS IN ARMS SERVING IN HARMS WAY-FAR FROM HOME, FAMILY, AND
FRIENDS.  THE MEN AND WOMEN OF TODAYS ARMED FORCES CARRY ON THE
TRADITIONS OF OUR FOREFATHERS AS THEY SACRIFICE THEIR OWN COMFORTS TO
HELP DEFEND THE WORLD AGAINST TERRORISM.  THE COURAGE, DISCIPLINE, AND
HONOR OUR SERVICEMEMBERS CONSISTENTLY DISPLAY CONTINUE TO BE SOURCES OF
GREAT PRIDE TO OUR NATION.
3.  ON BEHALF OF ALL MARINES, I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO
OUR GREAT NATION.  THIS VETERANS DAY, TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REFLECT ON
OUR STORIED HISTORY AND RICH HERITAGE, HONORING THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO
HAVE GONE BEFORE YOU BY CONTINUING YOUR COMMITMENT TO WARFIGHTING
EXCELLENCE AND OUR CORE VALUES.  SEMPER FIDELIS, M. W. HAGEE, GENERAL,
U.S. MARINE CORPS, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//
