GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This message solicits applications from AR Marines interested in SDA as a DI.  Due to the limited number of allocations, and the large demand for this challenging duty, Reserve Affairs (RA) will select only one primary and one alternate female applicant for FY18.  The selected Marine will attend DI school in FY18.  The alternate will be used only if the primary selectee is unavailable.
2.  Board Process.  The board will consist of 5 members who have been screened and selected as board members.  The board will select a primary candidate from the pool of eligible applicant submissions.  Additionally, the board will select a qualified alternate in the event the primary candidate is required to be replaced.  Upon completion of the board, the information for both the primary and alternate will be forwarded to Reserve Affairs Personnel Management (RAM) Branch Head for approval.  Once approved, the primary and alternate selectees will be announced via MARADMIN.
3.  Eligibility requirements:
    a.  Sergeants regardless of time in grade.
    b.  Staff sergeants having less than 24 months time in grade by 1 October 2017.
