GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Career Communications Group, a non-federal entity, hosts the BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference (BEYA STEM GCC) annually.  The conference will be held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road, NW, Washington, DC 20008 from 8-10 February 2018.  This conference offers attendees professional development opportunities and participation in a host of STEM related training sessions, and the opportunity to network.  Subject to conference approval, Marines are invited to attend all BEYA STEM GCC activities during the conference.  Attendance is not exclusive to any race, gender, grade, or military occupational specialty.
2.  Other specified activities at BEYA STEM GCC.  The Youth Mentorship Program and Stars and Stripes Dinner.
    a.  Youth Mentorship Program.  The mentorship program will be held on 9 February from 1600-1800 at the conference site and provides Flag Officers and Senior Executives the opportunity to participate in a direct mentoring engagement with local youth.  Flag Officers and Senior Executives interested in participating in the Youth Mentorship Program can contact the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management (MPE) Branch POC to confirm attendance and participation in this event.  There is no cost associated with participating in the Youth Mentorship Program.  Following the youth mentorship program, will be the Stars and Stripes Dinner.
    b.  Stars and Stripes Dinner.  Each year attendees include Department of Defense executives, service chiefs, political leaders, corporate executives, and many others who wish to honor the contributions of outstanding African American men and women in the Armed Forces and promote awareness of their talents and sacrifices.  All of the Services are recognized during the event, with a featured Service having a special opportunity to highlight traditions and accomplishments.  This year’s featured service is the US Army.  Marines are welcome to attend the Stars and Stripes Dinner, however, the cost is $100 and is a personally incurred expense.  No official or command funds may be used for this event.  Registration for the dinner is available at www.beya.org and click on Stars and Stripes.
3.  The uniform for the Youth Mentorship Program and the Stars and Stripes Dinner will be Dress Blue Bravos.  The uniform for all other BEYA STEM GCC events will be Dress Blue Charlies.
4.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
5.  BEYA is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps.
