GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE MARINE CORPS, I EXTEND SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR FELLOW WARRIORS OF THE US ARMY ON THE OCCASION OF YOUR 239TH ANNIVERSARY.
2.  ON 14 JUNE 1775, THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS RAISED TEN COMPANIES OF EXPERT RIFLEMEN TO SERVE IN THE DEFENSE OF THE COLONIES.  SINCE THAT DAY, GENERATIONS OF SOLDIERS HAVE FAITHFULLY PROTECTED OUR SOIL AND ADVANCED AMERICA'S INTERESTS ALL AROUND THE WORLD.
3.  HISTORIAN GUY CHAPMAN ONCE NOTED OF SOLDIERS, "BY YOUR COURAGE IN TRIBULATION, BY YOUR CHEERFULNESS BEFORE THE DIRTY DEVICES OF THIS WORLD, YOU HAVE WON THE LOVE OF THOSE WHO HAVE WATCHED YOU." THIS REMAINS TRUE TODAY.  YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS AND COMRADES IN ARMS HONOR YOUR SERVICE, YOUR SACRIFICE, YOUR COURAGE AND YOUR SELFLESS DEVOTION TO DUTY, TO EACH OTHER AND TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY.
4.  AS YOU CELEBRATE THIS ANNIVERSARY AROUND THE GLOBE, REST ASSURED THAT WE "SOLDIERS OF THE SEA" SHARE IN YOUR JUBILANCE AND ARE PROUD TO STAND SHOULDER-TO-SOULDER WITH THE FINEST ARMY IN THE WORLD.
5.  SEMPER FIDELIS AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.  JAMES F. AMOS, GENERAL, U.S. MARINE CORPS,COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//
