SUBJ/NAVY CHAPLAIN CORPS ANNIVERSARY//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  On 28 November, we commemorate the 243rd anniversary of the United States Navy Chaplain Corps.  From the earliest battles in our Nation's war for independence, Navy Chaplains have played a crucial role in both times of war and peace. These devoted men and women continually provide selfless service and staunch commitment to ensure the spiritual well-being of members of our Sea Services and families.  We are a stronger Corps because of the contributions of our chaplains.
2.  Whether deployed or at home, chaplains stand by our side, compassionately comforting the injured, honoring the fallen, consoling the grieving, and providing spiritual support.  Their indomitable spirit and support to those forward deployed and families at home is truly appreciated.  In every crisis and conflict we have faced, the spiritual reassurance of our Chaplain Corps has enabled Marines and Sailors to successfully accomplish the mission.
3.  On behalf of all Marines, I congratulate the Chaplain Corps on 243 years of exceptional service.
