GCC to learn about aircraft maintenance in August

11 Jul 2008 | Lt. Col. Gary Lockard

Do you know what NDI is?  Ever eat a MRE or see the fuel bladder of a KC-135?  Members of the Grissom Community Council will learn about these items and more when they attend a special meeting and base visit on August 2.

The event on August 2 is hosted by the 434th Maintenance Group and will provide GCC members with a look at the inner workings of aircraft maintenance.  Areas on display will include structural repair (sheet metal working and painting), Non-Destructive Inspection (finding cracks using both high and low-tech equipment) and fuel cell maintenance.

The activities start at 2:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room in the Services Complex.  The GCC members will then be transported to an aircraft hangar for an interactive tour before heading back to the Services Complex for dinner consisting of "Meals Ready to Eat."

This special event is open to members of the Grissom Community Council and their guests.  GCC members can make their reservation by calling the 434th ARW Public Affairs Office at (765) 688-3348 no later than July 29.
