SUBJ/MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated a day of appreciation for military spouses.  That formal recognition showed how important their contributions are in our military forces.  The same holds true today.  The military spouse is the epitome of grace, strength, resilience and devotion, thriving in the fluid and often chaotic environment of military life.
2.  Friday, 10 May 2019 has been designated as Military Spouse Appreciation Day.  I encourage all Marines and Sailors to express sincere gratitude to their spouses for their loving support and true dedication.  Additionally, I encourage leaders at all levels to take advantage of Military Spouse Appreciation day to formally recognize the steadfastness of your Marines' and Sailors' spouses.
3.  My wife D'Arcy and I offer our sincere appreciation to all Marine Corps and Navy spouses serving with our Marines.  Thank you for your commitment and thank you for your support of our Corps, your Marines and Sailors, and your communities.  Make no mistake, the bond between you and your Marine or Sailor is a strategic element of what makes our Corps resilient, lethal, and ever ready to answer our Nation's call.
