GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN announces new monetary incentive options for special duty assignment (SDA) and type-one (T1) screenable billets for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021.
2.  Reference (a) implemented a new classification system for screenable billets that includes SDA and other special programs.  Reference (b) authorizes updated monetary incentives for these assignments.
3.  Eligibility.  Active Component Marines who volunteer for, or are involuntarily selected to, SDA (i.e., Recruiters, Drill Instructors, and Marine Security Guard Detachment Commanders) or T1 screenable billets (i.e., Combat Instructors, Marine Security Guard Watch Standers, and Security Force Guards (PRP)) on or after 1 March 2019 and assigned to a FY2021 class are eligible for incentives in the amounts described in paragraph 4.   Marines currently serving in SDA or T1 screenable billets or assigned to a FY2020 class are not eligible.
4.  Monetary Incentives.  Marines who meet the eligibility criteria in paragraph 3 above can choose between various incentive options, as described below.  Monetary incentive packages for volunteers are generally larger than those available to non-volunteers.
4a.  Recruiters (8411).
4.a.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  653 dollars per month; 375 dollars per month plus a 10,000 dollar lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 17,000 dollar lump sum.
4.a.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  375 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 7,000 dollar lump sum.
4.b.  Drill Instructors (0911).
4.b.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  578 dollars per month; 300 dollars per month plus a 10,000 lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 14,700 dollar lump sum.
4.b.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  300 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 4,700 dollar lump sum.
4.c.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Detachment Commander.
4.c.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  428 dollars per month; or 150 per month plus a 10,000 dollar lump sum.
4.c.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines will receive 150 dollars per month for the 36-month tour.
4.d.  Marine Combat Instructors (0913).  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  150 per month; or a 4,700 dollar lump sum.
4.e.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Watch Standers (8156) and Marine Corps Security Forces Guards (8152/8154).  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for their 36-month tour:  75 dollars per month; or a 2,300 dollar lump sum.
4.f.  Second tour SDAs.  Marines volunteering for a second tour in a SDA may choose from the  incentive options consistent with the associated tour length (generally 24 months).
5.  Marines meeting the eligibility criteria in paragraph 3 will begin to receive incentive pay, to include any lump sum payments, within 30 days of their SDA or T1 screenable billet join date, following course graduation and awarding of additional MOS.  Lump sum amounts listed in paragraph 4 are based upon standard 36 month tour lengths.  Variation in tour length will affect lump sum amounts.  Marines who receive a lump sum payment but fail to complete the associated tour length are subject to repayment of the unearned, prorated portion of the lump sum.
6.  Marines currently serving in SDA or T1 screenable billets or assigned to a FY2020 class will continue to receive special duty assignment pay as established in reference (c).
7.  The non-monetary incentives delineated in reference (d) for all Marines assigned to screenable billets designated in reference (a) remain in effect.
8.  This MARADMIN is applicable only to the active component.
9.  Release authorized by Colonel Daniel L. Shipley, Director, Manpower Plans and Policy Division//
