GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  PURPOSE.  To announce the opportunity for commanders to complete the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) in an effort to better understand initiatives taken by HQMC Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) Department directed at talent management of officers.
2.  BACKGROUND.  Prior to October 2019, all Officers completed the General Classification Test (GCT) at The Basic School (TBS).  A review of the GCT revealed a need for modernization of officer aptitude testing. Following a comprehensive analysis, the CCAT was selected as an improved metric for measuring officer aptitude with potential for influencing officer classification.
3.  EXECUTION.  M&RA is providing an opportunity for 200 commanders across the Corps to complete the CCAT between 16 Mar 20 and 13 Apr 20 on a first come, first served basis. Participation in the CCAT is voluntary; however, commanders are strongly encouraged to participate in this initiative.
3.a.  The CCAT is a computer based test and participants may complete the test at their convenience. Participants are encouraged to complete the test utilizing the Google Chrome browser for the best testing experience.
3.b.  Commanders interested in participating in the CCAT should contact Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Manpower Plans and Policy, Manpower Analysis Branch at msabtesting@usmc.mil or at 703-784-9368.
4.  Participation in the CCAT is strongly encouraged and participants are assured that all scores will be kept confidential. Individual test results will be sent to the participants, via their usmc.mil email address. Each test takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, but participants are advised to dedicate 30 minutes to account for administrative processing.
5.  The POC for the CCAT is Capt O. A. Adeniji, Oludare.adeniji@usmc.mil or at 703-784-9367.
