SUBJ/LABOR DAY MESSAGE 2020//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Throughout our history, the success and prosperity of our great Nation has stemmed directly from the hard work, dedication, and ingenuity of our labor force.  Established as a federal holiday in 1894, Labor Day celebrates the efforts and innumerable achievements of American workers.
2.  Labor Day generally marks the unofficial end of summer and is traditionally an opportunity to spend time with family and friends.  This Labor Day may look a little different during this unique time in our history, as we continue to feel the effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic.  There are still a lot of unknowns, and things change rapidly.  It is important to continue good social distancing practices and wear a mask, especially when in public areas or large gatherings.  Please follow local COVID-19 guidance.  You are our greatest asset, and we expect you to take precautions to stay healthy and ready to answer when our Nation calls.
3.  Have fun, be safe, and take care of each other.
4.  Semper Fidelis, David H. Berger, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
