GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Each year, Headquarters, Marine Corps (HQMC), Opportunity, Diversity, and Inclusion Branch (MPE) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Branch (EEO) convene boards to select award recipients for numerous Department of Defense (DoD) and affinity group awards.
2.  All Marines and civilian employees, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation are eligible for nomination.
3.  Commanders may nominate individuals pending conference approval to alleviate short-fused notifications and enhance participation.
4.  A sample nomination package can be found on the MPE website at https:(slash)(slash)www.manpower.usmc.mil/webcenter/portal/MPE_OA.  The picture required as part of the package will not be part of the awardee selection process.  The photo may be used by the awarding organization in award ceremony publications or displays.  Photo submissions should be a high-resolution, command-style photo in the Service “A” uniform.
5.  The following first quarter FY21 outreach awards nominations are due to MPE via the points of contact by 7 October 2020:
5.a.  Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) Grateful Nation Award.  Nominations should be a veteran of the Global War on Terror and possess a high degree of personal integrity.  One awardee will be selected.  Commands may nominate an O4 or below or an E8 or below.
5.b.  Career Communications Group, Inc., Stars and Stripes Awards.  Two categories will be awarded.
5.b.1.  Military Service Award:  The Military Service Award selectee shall be a colonel or above who has served with distinction supporting the Service’s efforts in mentorship, diversity, and value based service to the nation and their Service.  The selected individual should have served within commands/agencies that have missions to procure, develop, or employ new technologies and systems.  Further, the Service selectee should be a personal advocate for advances in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and STEM education.  Finally, the selectee must have proven himself/herself to be of exemplary character and outstanding ability.
5.b.2.  Senior Executive Service (SES) Award:  The Military Service SES Award nominee shall be a member of the SES who has served with distinction supporting the Service’s efforts in membership, diversity, and value-based service to the Nation.  The nominated individual should have served within commands/agencies that have missions to procure, develop, or employ new technologies and systems.  Additionally, the Service nominee should be a personal advocate for advances in STEM and STEM education.  Finally, the nominee must have proven himself/herself to be of exemplary character and outstanding ability.
6.  Affinity groups are non-federal entities and are not endorsed by the USMC.
