GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Due to recent unauthorized disclosures of CNSI and CUI, the Secretary of Defense mandated additional security measures be implemented to stem the illegal flow of classified and sensitive information outside the control of DOD.
2.  Effective immediately, all commands in the Marine Corps will implement periodic and random “Exit Checks” to screen for personnel who are removing either CNSI or CUI without authorization.
3.  Commands will add increased emphasis on after-hours checks of desk tops and trash receptacles to ensure proper handling, storage, and destruction of both CNSI and CUI.
4.  In the event CNSI or CUI is found to be in the possession of individuals who are unauthorized to remove from the command’s workspaces, a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) will be conducted to determine whether a Security Violation has occurred.  The PI will be forwarded to HQMC (PPO PSI) whether or not a JAG investigation is contemplated.
5.  These requirements will be added to the Functional Area 5510.3, Information & Personnel Security Program Checklist.
6.  Release authorized by SES Randy R. Smith, Assistant Deputy Commandant, Security.//
