GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Per reference (a), unit Commanding Officers are required to ensure all assigned sponsors complete sponsorship training prior to commencing duties as a sponsor.  Effective 1 March 2021, completion of sponsorship training will be formally documented in Marine Corps Training Information Management System using the training event code “US”.  Appointed Command Sponsorship Coordinators will continue to ensure sponsors complete sponsorship training and receive a training completion certificate prior to performing sponsorship duties.  Commanders are encouraged to develop local policies incorporating best practices to ensure sponsorship training documentation in coordination with their supporting Installation Information, Referral and Relocation (IR&R) Program.
2.  Sponsorship training is provided by local Installation IR&R Program offices and is also available on MarineNet for those who cannot attend in-person training.  The Marine and Family Programs Division has oversight over the Marine Corps Sponsorship Program (MCSP).
3.  Installations or units requiring additional information concerning sponsorship training should contact the point of contact listed in this MARADMIN.
4.  This requirement will be incorporated in the next revision of reference (a).
5.  Per reference (a), the MCSP applies to the Active Component and members of the Select Marine Corps Reserve.
