GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This message provides notification and guidance to the Marine Corps regarding the Department of Defense (DOD) decommissioning Defense Collaboration Services (DCS) and Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) Defense Enterprise Email (DEE).
2.  Background.  The DOD is transitioning to Microsoft Office 365 (O365) for collaboration services, to include e-mail, chat and web conferencing.  The DOD has made significant progress in providing cross tenant collaboration capabilities within Microsoft Teams provided with O365.  DISA has determined that the organically provided NIPR email and collaboration capabilities (DEE and DCS respectively) will be decommissioned along the timeline delineated below.
2.a.  IAW REF A NIPRNET DCS services are scheduled to sunset on 1 Sep 2021.  Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPR) DCS services will remain operational until fiscal year 2023.  Collaboration capabilities on NIPR will be provided through O365 Teams and Global Video Service (GVS) 2.0.
2.b.  IAW REF A NIPRNET DEE is scheduled to sunset on 31 Mar 2022.  DEE is being replaced by O365 email.  DISA is expected to provide a migration strategy that is the least disruptive to the end users and ensures an orderly and financially responsible shutdown of the DEE service.  This only applies to personnel with mail.mil accounts.
3.  Action.
3.a.  Users that have a DCS account should begin migration of all new and recurring DCS meetings to either O365 Teams or GVS 2.0.  Users are urged to educate themselves through the below resources on GVS and Teams capabilities.
3.b.  No action is required of users with a DEE account.  DEE mailboxes will be migrated to the DOD O365 tenant.
4.  Resources.  All users who require GVS 2.0 accounts should first contact their local help desk for assistance.  Information and additional resources to assist with DCS and DEE decommissioning can be found at the following links:
