GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  General.  This MARADMIN announces that the U.S. Marine Corps FY21 Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) Annual Training will be conducted via Moodle learning platform on MarineNet.
2.  Background.  Reference (a), Volume 16, Chapter 4 requires the Marine Corps to provide victims and witnesses support and information throughout military justice and administrative processes as part of the VWAP.
3.  Action
3.a.  In order to ensure trained VWAP personnel are available to support victims and witnesses, HQMC, Judge Advocate Division (JA) sponsors annual VWAP training.  The training provides Victim Witness Liaison Officers (VWLO), Victim Witness Assistance Coordinators (VWAC), and other victim and witness support personnel with a basic understanding of the VWAP.
3.b.  U.S. Marine Corps FY21 VWAP Annual Training will occur 30 August – 3 September 2021.  The course is self-paced, with attendees completing 15 modules and a final assessment any time provided to all attendees who complete the final assessment with a passing grade.
3.c.  The curriculum will cover the following topics:

3.c.3   Sexual Assault Prevention and Response and VWAP Interaction
3.c.4   Family Advocate Program Overview
3.c.5   Legal Assistance availability

3.c.9   Appellate VWAP
3.c.10   Transitional Compensation
3.c.11   Impact of Crime on Victims
3.c.12   Communicating with Victims,
3.c.13   The Crime Victims' Rights Act
3.c.14   Commanding Generals Inspection Program
3.c.15   Best Practices
4.  Eligibility.  The following personnel are eligible to attend this training:  VWLOs, Unit VWACs, Unit Legal Officers, Legal Services Support Team VWACs, and other civilian or Marine Corps personnel who have a mission essential need for this training.
5.  Registration.  To register for the U.S. Marine Corps FY21 VWAP Annual Training Online, e-mail the listed POCs no later than 20 August 2021 using the subject heading “FY21 VWAP Training  Registration.”  Registrants must provide the POCs with their EDIPI and have an active MarineNet account to complete registration.
