GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The 2022 Officer Women Leadership Symposium (OWLS) will be held 26-27 April 2022 in a hybrid format.  The physical location of the symposium will be held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.  Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) Opportunity, Diversity, and Inclusion Branch (MPE) will sponsor 45 participants conference/registration fees.  Twenty participants will be sponsored to attend in-person to include all travel expenses and 25 will be sponsored to participate virtually using the government Zoom platform.
2.  The Officer Women Leadership Symposium provides military women the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues and to grow professionally and personally through keynote messages, workshops and panel discussions.  The speakers are leaders from the military, public, and private sectors who offer their support and personal advice.  Participants will have tremendous opportunities for mentorship, while connecting with veteran and current military women at every level of leadership and from every Military Service.  OWLS is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps.  More information can be found on the Academy Women website at www.MilitaryOWLS.org.
3.  Commanders may authorize Temporary Additional Duty for Marines, civilian Marines, and Sailors who are attached to their units to attend in-person.  Commanders may authorize Permissive Temporary Additional Duty for Marines and Sailors attached to their units to allow virtual participation in an environment without distractions.  Commanders/Supervisors may also approve civilian Marine participation in an environment without distractions.  Local travel is authorized for members in the local area.  All Marine Corps funded participation must be coordinated through the MPE Branch.  Reservations to attend must be approved by MPE NLT 19 April 2022.  Rental cars are not authorized.  Commands are not authorized to use command funding for rental cars.
4.  Outreach events are open to all Marines, Sailors, and Civilian Marines regardless of rank, race, ethnicity, gender, or status.  Requests to participate in this event should be emailed to the group mailbox MPE_)Outreach@usmc.mil via your Officer-in-Charge and include the following information:  name, rank, EDIPI, unit, email, and duty station.  Replies from MPE should be used in justifying PTAD requests.
