GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN establishes the coordinating instructions for attendance at Modern Day Marine (MDM) 2023.  MDM will be held from 27-29 June 2023 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
2.  Background.  MDM is the premiere Marine expo and symposium with more than 400 industry displays and various speaker panels.  MDM consists of the expo floor, main briefing stage, Marine stage, Marine Zone, and new this year, a wargaming convention.  MDM provides a forum for Marines and industry to engage on the best solutions for the Marine Corps to remain the ready, responsive, and resilient force.
3.  MDM is considered a non-DoD event and is not hosted by the Marine Corps.  Planning for this event is conducted by a full time MDM staff from Marine Corps League, Marine Corps Association (MCA), and event staff.
4.  Units located inside the National Capital Region (NCR) are highly encouraged to support and facilitate the attendance of their Marines at MDM.
5.  Coordinating Instructions
5.a.  Registration is required for the attendance and is free for Marines.  Registration can be submitted up to the day of the event.  Register at http:(slash)(slash)marinemilitaryexpos.com/modern-day-marine/attendee-information-registration/.
5.b.  There are four primary transportation options.  Since the majority of Marines in the NCR are aboard Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico, units are highly encouraged to begin coordinating transportation support for their Marines now.
5.b.1.  Bus Schedule.  There are four planned bus stops for pick up and drop off on MCB Quantico.  The first stop in Little Hall, and is followed by the Marsh Center, the Davis Center, and the National Museum of the Marine Corps.  A bus will depart Little Hall every 30 minutes beginning at 0700.  The last bus will depart Little Hall at 1130.  The first return bus from the convention center to Quantico is 1000 and the last returning bus is 1530.  This timeline is subject to bus limitations, traffic, and the number of Marines traveling.  Estimated travel time is 45 minutes.  The schedule is available at:  http:(slash)(slash)marinemilitaryexpos.com/travel-information/.
5.b.2.  If units intend to send more than 20 personnel on the scheduled bus route, coordinate directly with MDM staff to ensure proper transportation support.  Units can also obtain contracted buses at no cost to the unit.  For bus requests and coordination, contact Kate Benson at kate.benson@emeraldx.com no later than 15 May 2023.
5.b.3.  Units are authorized to coordinate unit transportation via government buses to maximize unit command and control of their MDM experience.
5.b.4.  At the discretion of a unit's leadership, Marines are authorized the use of personal or public transportation.
5.c.  This is the first year the Marine Corps will host a wargaming convention, planned and executed by the Marine Corps University and Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory.  This is an opportunity for any attendee to see and learn how the Marine Corps uses wargaming for training and education.  To participate in a wargame, when registering to attend the expo, add the Wargame Convention Special Event.  Registering in a stand-by status the day of the event will also be available.
5.d.  Uniform of the day for MDM is service "C" for Marines and business casual for government employees.  Uniform for speakers will be service "A" and business professional for government employees.
6.  The detailed schedule of speakers and additional coordinating instructions is available on the MDM website at http:(slash)(slash) marinemilitaryexpos.com/modern-day-marine/home.
7.  Release authorized by Lieutenant General Gregg P. Olson, Director, Marine Corps Staff.//
