FROM THE EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE SCHOOL (EWS). C4PC IS FOCUSED ON
TECHNICAL C4 PLANNING. 30 UNFUNDED CLASS SEATS ARE AVAILABLE ON A
FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS TO MOS 0602 CAPTAINS SERVING IN THE
OPERATING FORCES, RESERVE COMPONENT, AND SUPPORTING ESTABLISHMENT.
FIELD GRADE MOS 0602 OFFICERS AND SENIOR ENLISTED MARINES
(GYSGT-MGYSGT) CURRENTLY HOLDING NETWORK/SYSTEMS PLANNING BILLETS
ARE ALSO INVITED TO PARTICIPATE, BUT CAPTAINS HAVE PRIORITY. MARINES
SERVING WITH NUMBERED FLEET, PHIBGRU, AND PHIBRON STAFFS ARE
ENCOURAGED TO INVITE NAVY N6 OFFICERS TO PARTICIPATE.
2.MISSION. FROM 24 FEBRUARY THROUGH 17 APRIL 2003, MCU (CCSS)
CONDUCTS ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CIS)
PLANNING TRAINING IOT ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF FIELD PROFESSIONALS.
3.EXECUTION. THE SUBJECT COURSE PROVIDES INSTRUCTION ON PLANNING
FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF COMMON USER NETWORK AND SUBSCRIBER TERMINAL
EQUIPMENT WITHIN A MARINE AIR GROUND TASK FORCE (MAGTF) AS A
COMPONENT OF A JOINT TASK FORCE (JTF) WITH EXTERNAL CONNECTIVITY TO
UNIFIED COMBATANT COMMANDS AND NATIONAL LEVEL SYSTEMS.
A.DIRECTOR'S INTENT. OFFER TECHNICAL C4 PLANNING INSTRUCTION
TO EWS MOS 0602 STUDENTS AND OTHER SELECTED C4 PLANNERS IOT
INCREASE C4 NETWORK PLANNING EXPERTISE IN THE OPERATING
FORCES, SUPPORTING ESTABLISHMENT, AND RESERVE FORCES.
B.COURSE DESCRIPTION. THE SCHEDULE WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
MODULES OF INSTRUCTION: PLANNING, TRANSMISSIONS, SWITCHING,
DATA, INFORMATION ASSURANCE, MANAGEMENT, AND ANNEX K
DEVELOPMENT. SEVERAL FIELD TRIPS WILL BE CONDUCTED
THROUGHOUT THE CURRICULUM. EACH MODULE WILL INCLUDE VARIOUS
GUEST SPEAKERS AND END WITH A PRACTICAL APPLICATION EXERCISE.
C.CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS. INSTRUCTION WILL BE PROVIDED IN A
MODULAR FORMAT.
(1)MODULE 1: PLANNING. 24 FEB - 27 FEB 03. THE PLANNING
MODULE WILL PREPARE STUDENTS TO FUNCTION AS G6
OPERATIONAL PLANNING TEAM REPRESENTATIVES IN SUPPORT OF
MAGTF JOINT AND COMBINED OPERATIONS. OTHER TOPICS
INCLUDE THE ROLES, FUNCTIONS, AND INTER-RELATIONSHIPS OF
THE COMMANDER'S STAFF; JOINT C4 ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW;
AND GLOBAL INFORMATION GRID SERVICE ACCESS CONSIDERATIONS.
(2)MODULE 2: TRANSMISSIONS. 28 FEB - 11 MAR 03. THE
TRANSMISSIONS MODULE ADDRESSES EMPLOYMENT PLANNING AND
LINK ENGINEERING FOR THE MAGTF'S RF TRANSMISSIONS SYSTEMS
AS WELL AS MULTIPLEXING HARDWARE AND SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT
ISSUES.
(3)MODULE 3: SWITCHING. 12 MAR - 16 MAR 03. THE SWITCHING
MODULE ADDRESSES EMPLOYMENT PLANNING FOR THE MAGTF'S
DIGITAL AND ANALOG VOICE CIRCUIT SWITCHING EQUIPMENT AND
COMSEC MATERIALS.
(4)MODULE 4: DATA. 17 MAR - 26 MAR 03. THE DATA MODULE
ADDRESSES EMPLOYMENT PLANNING FOR THE MAGTF'S DATA
NETWORK EQUIPMENT, OPERATING SYSTEMS, MESSAGING, AND
TACTICAL DATA SYSTEMS.
(5)MODULE 5: INFORMATION ASSURANCE. 27 MAR - 30 MAR 03. THE
INFORMATION ASSURANCE MODULE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE
PARTICIPANTS WITH PRACTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR PROTECTING THE
SECURITY OF A MAGTF'S INFORMATION ASSETS AND RESOURCES.
THE MODULE ADDRESSES EMPLOYMENT PLANNING, SECURITY ISSUES,
TECHNOLOGIES, AND PRACTICES FOR THE SURVIVABILITY OF ALL
MAGTF INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
(6)MODULE 6: MANAGEMENT. 31 MAR - 03 APR 03. THE MANAGEMENT
MODULE ADDRESSES MANAGEMENT OF THE MAGTF'S C4 EQUIPMENT
AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN SUPPORT OF MAGTF, JOINT, AND
COMBINED OPERATIONS TO INCLUDE COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING
DOCUMENTATION AND NETWORK MANAGEMENT ISSUES.
(7)MODULE 7: CAPSTONE ANNEX K DEVELOPMENT. 04 APR -
15 APR 03. THIS MODULE IS DESIGNED TO SERVE AS THE END
OF COURSE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION EXERCISE. STUDENTS WILL
BE TASKED WITH PREPARING AND BRIEFING A SCENARIO-BASED
ANNEX K COMPLETE WITH APPROPRIATE TABS AND APPENDIXES.
D.TASKS

PUBLICATIONS, AND COMPUTER SUPPORT. MODULE 7 EXERCISE
SCENARIO INFORMATION AND A CD-ROM WITH READ AHEAD
MATERIAL (GENERAL THEORY AND CONCEPTS) WILL BE MAILED TO
ALL STUDENTS UPON ENROLLMENT.
