SUBJ/MEMORIAL DAY SAFETY MESSAGE//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  MEMORIAL DAY GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN TOGETHER IN TRIBUTE TO THE SERVICE MEMBERS WHO HAVE FOUGHT AND DIED IN DEFENSE OF OUR FREEDOM.
2.  THIS YEAR, I ENCOURAGE MARINES TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE IN SERVICE TO OUR NATION AND TO REMEMBER THE SACRIFICES OF THEIR FAMILIES.
3.  THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND ALSO MARKS THE START OF THE SUMMER RECREATION AND TRAVEL SEASON.  I ASK THAT YOU CAREFULLY CONSIDER THE RISKS INVOLVED WITH ALL OF YOUR SUMMER ACTIVITIES.  HONOR YOUR FELLOW MARINES BY TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER AND REMAINING VIGILANT AGAINST RECKLESS BEHAVIOR.  STAY SAFE AND CONTINUE TO SERVE WITH PRIDE KNOWING THAT OUR NATION HAS PLACED ITS TRUST IN YOU.
4.  I WISH YOU ALL AN ENJOYABLE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND A SAFE PRODUCTIVE SUMMER.
5.  SEMPER FIDELIS, JAMES F. AMOS, GENERAL, U.S. MARINE CORPS, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//
