The following active component officers were selected by the FY17 Marine Attache (MARA) Selection Board and approved by the Secretary Of The Navy (SECNAV) to serve within the Defense Attache System (DAS). These officers will be nominated to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for Approval:

A. If required, active duty alternates will be slated to countries based on language, regional, and cultural expertise. These alternates must be approved by the SECNAV and DIA prior to assignment and training.
3. The following reserve component officers were selected by the FY17 MARA Selection Board and approved by the Secretary of the Navy to serve within the DAS. These officers will be nominated to DIA for approval:

A. Approved reserve attache nominees will be transferred to the HQMC Intelligence IMA Detachment (RUC 88831). Attendance at the reserve Attache course is required and will be conducted over a two-week period, commencing in December of 2015. Drill attendance sheets, orders requests, and other administrative requirements associated with this duty will be processed by HQMC Intel Department.

A. Completion of the reserve attache course is required prior to assignment.
5. NLT 2 weeks from the date of this MARADMIN all selected officers must:
A. Contact their PMOS monitor to accept or decline their selection and commence initial assignment coordination.
B. Contact Capt Vassar via email and provide a current mailing address for delivery of correspondence.
6. Selected officers are not obligated to the MARA program and remain eligible to apply to other non-statutory selection boards.
7. Active component selectees can expect PCS duins orders for training to the National Capital Region (NCR). Training start dates are dependent upon the country and training required but training can begin as early as January 2016. All selectees with competing Marine Corps requirements that could delay their availability for training must notify their PMOS monitor and Intelligence Department in their initial correspondence. HQMC will coordinate a final determination with Manpower and Reserve Affairs to meet the mission requirements for the DAS.
8. A limited portion of training during the Attache curriculum is available to spouses of selected officers. This training is desired, not required, and does not incur additional cost to the service member. The selectee's spouse will be granted a security clearance and attend multiple spouse-specific classes ranging from etiquette to Protocol. Language training is also available to the spouse for most billets at the request of the selectee.
