GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN announces the 2016 Officer Women Leadership Symposium (OWLS) hosted by Academy Women from 20-22 April 2016 at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Arlington, Virginia.
2.  OWLS provides military women the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues and to grow professionally and personally through keynote messages, workshops, and panel discussions.  The distinguished speakers are leaders from the military as well as the public and private sectors who offer their support and personal advice.  Participants will have tremendous opportunities for mentorship while connecting with veteran and active service women at every level of leadership from every branch of service.  This year’s event is focused on the theme, “Empowered by change for a stronger tomorrow.”
3.  USMC funded participation for this conference has been approved within a limited scope.  USMC will sponsor twenty service members from the local area by funding their conference/registration fees only.  All USMC funded participation will be coordinated through the USMC Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management (MPE) Branch.
4.  Commands shall not fund conference/registration fees.  Commands are not authorized to expend travel funds, including lodging, transportation, meals and incidental expenses.  Filing of temporary additional duty or local travel claims for this conference is not authorized.
