GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THIS ALMAR ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF TWO NEW BOOKS TO THE MARINES CORPS PROFESSIONAL READING PROGRAM LIST CONTAINED IN REFERENCE A.
2.  THE OPERATIONAL PLANNING TEAM IDENTIFIED IN REFERENCE B REVIEWED SEVERAL LITERARY WORKS FOR INCLUSION ON THE MARINE CORPS PROFESSIONAL READING LIST.  I HAVE REVIEWED THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS AND, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THE FOLLOWING BOOKS ARE ADDED TO THE LIST IN REFERENCE A FOR THE GRADES INDICATED:
A.  ALL MARINES:  "THE MARINES OF MONTFORD POINT, AMERICA'S FIRST BLACK MARINES," BY MELTON A. MCLAURIN.
B.  CAPTAIN AND CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER 4:  "INTO THE TIGER'S JAW" BY LIEUTENANT GENERAL FRANK E. PETERSEN, U.S. MARINE CORPS (RETIRED) WITH J. ALFRED PHELPS.
3.  "THE MARINES OF MONTFORD POINT, AMERICA'S FIRST BLACK MARINES"CHRONICLES THE VARIED EXPERIENCES OF SEVERAL MONTFORD POINT MARINES AS THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICANS INTEGRATING THE CORPS AND DETAILS THEIR COMBAT SERVICE IN THE PACIFIC, KOREA AND VIETNAM.  "INTO THE TIGER'S JAW" IS THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL FRANK PETERSEN, USMC (RETIRED), WHO SERVED A 38-YEAR CAREER, OVERCOMING NUMEROUS CHALLENGES TO BECOME THE FIRST MARINE CORPS AFRICAN AMERICAN AVIATOR, COLONEL AND GENERAL OFFICER.  THIS BOOK IS CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPRINTED; COPIES MAY BE AVAILABLE AT THE INSTALLATION LIBRARY.
4.  COMMANDING GENERALS AND COMMANDING OFFICERS WILL INCORPORATE THE UPDATED MARINE CORPS PROFESSIONAL READING PROGRAM LIST INTO THEIR COMMAND AND UNIT PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
