SUBJ/FISCAL YEAR 2011 FIRST TERM ALIGNMENT PLAN RETENTION GOALS MET//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  MARINES, CONGRATULATIONS ON ACHIEVING THIS YEAR'S FIRST TERM ALIGNMENT PLAN (FTAP).  YOUR RETENTION EFFORTS HAVE BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF OUTSTANDING.
2.  THIS FISCAL YEAR (FY), YOU WERE DIRECTED TO REENLIST 6,832 FIRST TERM MARINES AND, ON 27 JULY 2011, YOU ACCOMPLISHED THIS GOAL.  ADDITIONALLY, THIS GOAL WAS MET WITH A NOTEWORTHY 98.4 PERCENT MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (MOS) MATCH.  A HIGH MOS MATCH IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE AS IT ENSURES COMMANDS WILL RECEIVE THE RIGHT MARINE WITH THE APPROPRIATE SKILLS.
3.  YOUR LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT IS EXCEPTIONAL; IT CLEARLY REFLECTS THE SUSTAINED INVESTMENT OF TIME AND LEADERSHIP AT ALL LEVELS, ESPECIALLY THOSE BATTALION AND SQUADRON LEADERS (COMMANDERS, SENIOR ENLISTED LEADERS, AND CAREER PLANNERS) WHO MAKE RETENTION POSSIBLE.
4.  FTAP REENLISTMENT OPPORTUNITIES REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR FY11 FTAP MARINES IN THE FOLLOWING MOS(S):  0211, 2336, AND 5524.
5.  SEMPER FIDELIS.  JAMES F. AMOS, GENERAL, U.S. MARINE CORPS, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//
