GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE 2006 GENERAL ELECTION IS FAST APPROACHING.
REGISTERED VOTERS HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO LET THEIR VOICES BE
HEARD BY EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE.  VOTING IS A RIGHT THAT
DEFINES OUR NATION AS A DEMOCRACY, BUT SOME TAKE THIS RIGHT FOR
GRANTED.  I ENCOURAGE ALL MARINES, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND CIVILIAN
MARINES TO EXERCISE THE RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE OF VOTING.
2.  TO VOTE, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED.  IF YOU ARE DEPLOYED OR
RESIDING OUTSIDE YOUR STATE OF RESIDENCY, YOU MUST COMPLETE A
FEDERAL POST CARD APPLICATION (FPCA) TO REGISTER.  ALL ELIGIBLE
VOTERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES SHOULD IMMEDIATELY COMPLETE AND
SEND THE FPCA TO YOUR STATE ELECTION OFFICIALS.  IF YOU ARE
STATESIDE, YOU HAVE UNTIL 15 SEP 2006.  IF YOU OR YOUR FAMILY
MEMBERS HAVE NOT ALREADY CONTACTED YOUR VOTING ASSISTANCE OFFICER
(VAO), I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO SO NOW OR VISIT ONE OF YOUR BASE VOTING
ACTIVITIES/BOOTHS DURING ARMED FORCES VOTING WEEK, 3-9 SEP 2006.
LOCAL VAO'S WILL BE READILY AVAILABLE TO ASSIST ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS.
