GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE SERGEANT MAJOR OF THE MARINE CORPS (SMMC)
WILL CONVENE THE 2007 SERGEANTS MAJOR SYMPOSIUM (SMS 07) FROM 30
JUL-3 AUG 2007.  INFORMATION ON LOCATION, DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS,
AND RATES WILL BE PROVIDED VIA E-MAIL ONCE IDENTIFIED.  THE
FOLLOWING SGTSMAJ AND THEIR SPOUSES ARE REQUESTED TO ATTEND:

TO INCLUDE SOCIAL EVENTS COORDINATION.  THE DIRECTOR, SPECIAL
PROJECTS DIRECTORATE (SPD) FOR THE DIRECTOR OF MARINE CORPS STAFF,
PROVIDES DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE SMMC OFFICE, AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
LOGISTICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND COMMAND CENTER OPERATIONS SUPPORT
FOR SMS 07.  MSGT EDDIE GINN IS SPD'S LEAD PROJECT OFFICER,

SPOUSES WHO REQUEST TO ATTEND.  ALL ORDERS SHOULD BE NON-REPORTING.
GOVT QUARTERS AND MESSING ARE NOT AVAILABLE.  SPOUSAL TRAVEL IS
REIMBURSABLE; HOWEVER, SPOUSES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED PER DIEM.
6.  GOVT TRANSPORTATION WILL BE PROVIDED TO ALL OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS.

7.  COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH SMS 07 WILL BE PROVIDED VIA SEPARATE
CORRESPONDENCE AND WILL BE COLLECTED BY SPD WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF
THE SMMC'S OFFICE DURING CHECKIN-IN OR ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE
SYMPOSIUM.  CHECKS CAN BE MADE PAYABLE TO SPECIAL EVENTS FUND (SEF)
8.  UNIFORMS:  THE UNIFORM FOR THE SYMPOSIUM IS SERVICE "C"
W/RIBBONS. THE SMMC WILL HOST AN EVENING PARADE ON FRI, 3 AUG 06.
THE UNIFORM FOR THE PARADE IS DRESS BLUE/WHITE B (RIBBONS AND
BADGES).  THE EVENING SOCIAL SCHEDULE FOR 2 AUG 07 WILL BE A DINNER.
THE ATTIRE FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE COAT & TIE FOR MEN AND DRESS OR
SUIT FOR THE LADIES.  THE PRICE FOR THE SOCIAL WILL BE PROVIDED VIA
SEPARATE CORRESPONDENCE.
9.  WEATHER:  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR WASHINGTON, DC IN AUGUST
ARE 87 DEGREES (HI) AND 65 (LOW), WITH HUMIDITY AROUND 70 PERCENT.
THE AREA AVERAGES APPROXIMATELY 3.9 INCHES OF RAIN IN AUGUST. 
10.  SYMPOSIUM COMMAND CENTER
A.  THE SYMPOSIUM COMMAND CENTER WILL BE SET UP FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROVIDING PROACTIVE AND APPROPRIATE ADMIN AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT TO
ALL SYMPOSIUM ATTENDEES.  PERSONNEL AND RESOURCES ARE ASSIGNED TO
THE COMMAND CENTER ACCORDING TO KNOWN REQUIREMENTS BASED ON THE
OFFICIAL AGENDAS.
B.  SPD WILL SET UP THE SYMPOSIUM COMMAND CENTER IN THE HOTEL AND BE
OPERATIONAL FROM ABOUT 1200 ON 29 JUL 07 UNTIL 0800 ON 4 AUG 06.
DURING THE SYMPOSIUM, THE COMMAND CENTER IS PLANNING TO BE
OPERATIONAL MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 0600 TO 1900 IN SUPPORT OF THE
SYMPOSIUM ATTENDEES.
C.  PROJECTED COMMAND CENTER CAPABILITIES:

LOCATED CLOSE TO (BUT NOT INSIDE OF) THE COMMAND CENTER.
(6) BRIEFINGS SUPPORT:  THE COMMAND CENTER WILL BE PREPARED TO
SUPPORT ALL KNOWN BRIEFERS' REQUIREMENTS.  THE NORMAL ORGANIC
AUDIO-VISUAL AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CAPABILITIES AVAILABLE TO
BRIEFERS THROUGH THE COMMAND CENTER CHIEF INCLUDES:  SCREENS,
PROJECTORS, VCR'S, FLOPPYDISKS, AND LAPTOPS CAPABLE OF USING CD'S.

STU/STE PHONE.  PLEASE CONTACT THE SMS COMMAND CENTER SHOULD THE
NEED EXIST FOR THESE SERVICES.  ALL CLASSIFIED MATERIAL
HANDLING/STORAGE MUST BE COORDINATED WITH THE SMS COMMAND CENTER.
