GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THIS MARADMIN ANNOUNCES THE 25TH BIENNIAL WOMEN
MARINES ASSOCIATION CONVENTION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
CONFERENCE.  THE CONFERENCE FEATURES SPECIALLY TAILORED WORKSHOPS
FOR ACTIVE DUTY MARINES.  WORKSHOPS AND OTHER EVENTS INCLUDE: A
PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE CHANGING ROLES OF WOMEN IN THE MARINE CORPS
LED BY FORMER MARINE CAPTAIN VERNICE ARMOUR; MARINES' PERSONAL
FINANCES, INCLUDING PREPARING FOR DEPLOYMENT, LED BY FORMER MARINE
WENDY HOPKINS; A WOUNDED WARRIOR WORKSHOP; A WOMEN MARINES
HOMECOMING TRIBUTE THAT WILL CELEBRATE EVERY DECADE THAT WOMEN HAVE
SERVED IN THE MARINE CORPS WITH SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER, MAJGEN
KRUSA-DOSSIN; AND MUCH MORE.
2.  THIS YEAR'S CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD 28 AUG - 3 SEP 2008 AT THE
WESTIN GALLERIA HOTEL IN HOUSTON, TEXAS.  THE WOMEN MARINES
ASSOCIATION (WMA) IS A CIVILIAN, NON-PROFIT, VETERANS ASSOCIATION
COMPRISED OF WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED OR ARE SERVING HONORABLY IN THE
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS ACTIVE OR RESERVE COMPONENTS.  THE
MISSION OF WMA INCLUDES THE PRESERVATION AND PROMOTION OF THE
HISTORY AND TRADITIONS OF WOMEN WHO HAVE HONORABLY SERVED OUR NATION
AND CORPS.  WMA FOSTERS, ENCOURAGES AND PERPETUATES THE SPIRIT OF
CAMARADERIE AMONG WOMEN.  THE WMA SPONSORS A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR
MARINES AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, AS WELL AS, A MCJROTC AWARDS
PROGRAM.
3.  THE COMMANDANT WAS THE GUEST SPEAKER AT THE LAST CONFERENCE AND
HAS BEEN INVITED AGAIN THIS YEAR TO BE THE GUEST SPEAKER AT THE
CLOSING BANQUET.  BGEN ANGELA SALINAS, CG MCRD SAN DIEGO, WILL BE
THE GUEST SPEAKER AT THE OPENING BANQUET.
4.  ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE AT WWW.WOMENMARINES.ORG.  IF
REGISTRATION IS COMPLETED BY 30 JUNE 2008, THE REGISTRATION FEE IS
$40, EXCLUSIVE OF MEALS.  AFTER 30 JUNE, THE REGISTRATION FEE IS
$50.  THE DEADLINE FOR MAIL-IN REGISTRATION IS 1 AUGUST.  AFTER
1 AUGUST, REGISTRATION MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED EITHER ONLINE OR ON-SITE
FOR $50.  THERE ARE FIVE MEALS THROUGHOUT THE CONVENTION.  MEALS MAY
BE PURCHASED INDIVIDUALLY OR AS A PACKAGE.  TOTAL PACKAGE RATE IS
$210.00 FOR WMA MEMBERS AND $220.00 FOR NON-MEMBERS.  A TOUR TO THE
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER WITH A MEAL AND TRANSPORTATION IS A SEPARATE
REGISTRATION OF $50.00.  
5.  THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD AT THE WESTIN GALLERIA, 5060 WEST

6.  COMMANDERS MAY AUTHORIZE TAD ORDERS TO COVER EXPENSES INCIDENT
TO CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION,
PER DIEM, AND REGISTRATION FEES.  IF FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE,
PERMISSIVE TAD ORDERS MAY BE ISSUED.  UTILIZATION OF AVAILABLE
GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION IS ENCOURAGED TO HELP DEFRAY THE COST OF
TAD ORDERS.  IN ORDER TO FACILITATE ATTENDANCE AND COMMAND
REPRESENTATION, MARINE CORPS UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION (MCUF) WILL FUND
THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF DESERVING MARINES
INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE CONFERENCE.  THESE FEES WILL BE
ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS WITH PRIORITY GOING TO
JUNIOR ENLISTED AND SNCO MARINES.  SELECTED INDIVIDUALS WILL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR FUNDING ALL OTHER COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDANCE
(TRANSPORTATION, PER DIEM AND LODGING).  EMAIL REQUESTS FOR

OR HIGHER EQUIVALENT.
