GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  BACKGROUND.  PER THE REF, CHILDREN, YOUTH AND TEEN PROGRAMS PROVIDE QUALITY, AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE AND YOUTH AND TEEN SERVICES.  USMC COMMUNITY BASED RESPITE CHILD CARE PROGRAM IS OFFERED AS RECOGNITION FOR THE SACRIFICES MADE BY MARINES AND THEIR FAMILIES.  ELIGIBLE MARINE PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE UP TO 16 HOURS OF RESPITE CHILD CARE PER MONTH AT NO COST.  THE PROGRAM IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR REGULARLY SCHEDULED CHILD CARE (I.E. TO GO TO WORK OR ATTEND SCHOOL).  RESPITE CHILD CARE IS ADMINISTERED BY A NATIONAL PROVIDER, CHILD CARE AWARE OF AMERICA.  THE PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES AND FUNDING AVAILABILITY.
2.  EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES ARE AS FOLLOWS.  DEPENDENTS OF THE MARINE, AS VERIFIED IN DEFENSE ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY REPORTING SYSTEM (DEERS), MUST BE BIRTH THROUGH 12 YEARS OF AGE AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
A.  WII MARINES JOINED OR ATTACHED TO A WOUNDED WARRIOR REGIMENT (WWR) UNIT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR ASSIGNMENT TO THE WWR.  VERIFICATION OF ASSIGNMENT WILL BE COORDINATED BETWEEN MF AND WWR OPERATIONS CENTER OR;
B.  SPOUSE OF FALLEN MARINE MAY RECEIVE RESPITE CHILD CARE WHILE ELIGIBLE FOR SURVIVOR BENEFITS.  VERIFICATION OF STATUS WILL BE COORDINATED THROUGH THE CASUALTY BRANCH.
3.  PAYMENTS FOR RESPITE CHILD CARE ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO APPROVED CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND MAY NOT EXCEED 16 HOURS PER MONTH AT 10 DOLLARS PER HOUR.
4.  FAMILIES MUST RE-CERTIFY FOR ELIGIBILITY ANNUALLY OR AT THE TIME OF CERTIFICATE EXPIRATION.  ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES WILL NOT APPLY RETROACTIVELY.
