Opportunity is knocking at your door

Opportunity is knocking for members of the Guard and Reserve, single servicemembers and geographic 'bachelors', civil service and military not assigned to Scott Air Force base who are applying for housing.

The Pinnacle Realty Management Company has recently opened housing to these audiences.

"Expanded eligibility means we can now take care of more families," said Paula Baker, Pinnacle Realty Management Company community director. "For example, a servicemember is PCSing stateside but doesn't want to move their family because one of the children is a senior in high school, and they'd like to have him graduate. This family would be eligible to live on base during that year."

In addition to these benefits for active duty members, flexible lease terms can be a boon to Guard and Reserve members also.

"It may be difficult to find a short term lease outside of base," said Mrs. Baker. "Short term leases are available here, as are a limited number of furnished homes."

Some of the advantages of on-base living are: being close to work makes for a short commute, pets are accepted, rent is tied to BAH, no security deposit is required if paying by allotment, no hassles with hooking up utilities, maintenance and lawn care.

In addition to what is already offered in housing, by the end of the first quarter of this year two new community centers will open with indoor pools, fitness centers, meeting rooms, kitchens and lounges. These facilities are available at no charge to residents.

"We really hope those who are looking for housing consider us as an option," said Mrs. Baker. "By expanding our eligibility we hope to provide Joint Total Force Scott with a flexible, comfortable living arrangement."
