Enterprise Sourcing Group postpones industry outreach event

13 May 2011 |

Officials with the Enterprise Sourcing Group here have postponed the first Air Force Strategic Sourcing Industry Outreach until late this summer.

The event had originally been planned May 24-25, 2011, at the Dayton Convention Center in Dayton, Ohio.

"We elected to postpone the industry outreach to enable greater stakeholder and industry participation," said Maj. Fred Lacey, project lead with the Enterprise Sourcing Group.

A new date is expected to be announced by June 1, ESG officials said. The Air Force Strategic Sourcing Industry Outreach will be announced via the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov ) and to the media via various public affairs channels. Those who registered for the May event were notified of the postponement and will automatically be notified when the new date is selected.

The industry outreach event will target large and small businesses and share information on Air Force installation strategic sourcing objectives and priorities as well as provide a venue for industry participants to network, provide feedback and meet with officials in Commodity Councils who make Air Force acquisition decisions.

The Enterprise Sourcing Group was established under Air Force Materiel Command in the fall of 2010 and provides cross-functional installation strategic sourcing and acquisition solutions for Air Force bases in the continental United States. The goals of the ESG are to leverage the Air Force's buying power and reduce redundant acquisitions while strengthening support for important socio-economic programs and priorities. It supports DoD efficiency initiatives to reduce expenses to overhead and support functions, while shifting resources to modernization and readiness.

The ESG executes existing and future contracting workload managed by the Defense Technical Information Center, Air Force Medical Service, Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, and Air Force Civil Engineering Service Agency. The ESG supports the Air Force mission with six active Commodity Councils, covering $4.7 billion in strategic sourcing spend.
