MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- Four time Mr. Olympia winner, Jay Cutler visited Marines Aug. 27 in the Main Exchange at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms to show his appreciation for military service members. Marines, civilians and international military members stood in line for a chance to meet a world-renowned bodybuilder who has inspired them for more than 20 years.
Cutler won numerous competitions to include the Dutch Grand Prix, Arnold Classic and the Ironman Pro Invitational.
“Besides all the medals and titles, there comes a point to where you reach such an elite status that you look for more things to give you motivation and letters from these guys, their stories…those motivate me,” said Cutler.
His promotional appearance was held in front of GNC at the exchange. During the event, Cutler signed autographs, shook hands, posed for pictures, and passed knowledge and inspiration to patrons who came to the event.
“Have confidence in yourself and believe in yourself,” said Cutler.
The Marines waited to meet their muscle icon and attain advice on his prowess in bodybuilding, learning about how he started his passion and how he persevered.
“I started out as an 18-year-old,” said Cutler. “I started competing and the crowd’s reaction is what kept me going.”
Cutler won his first title in 1993, National Physique Committee Iron Bodies Invitational – Teenage & Men's Middleweight and his first Arnold Classic in 2003. He shot up through the ranks to win his first Mr. Olympia in 2006 succeeded by three more Mr. Olympia titles in the same decade.
The Combat Center patrons and Cutler that attended were grateful for the inspiration he gave to the attendees as gratitude and respect for their sacrifices.
