Press Release 14-050 Noise levels may increase in the vicinity of Camp Pendleton due to training exercises

Marines will conduct an exercise that involves the detonation of Mine Clearing Line Charges, here, Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day.

Mine Clearing Line Charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 (Composition C) explosives used to create a breach in minefields under combat conditions.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
