Pfc. Tommy G. McAllister III, honor graduate of platoon 1057, awaits graduation at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Aug. 29, 2014. McAllister III, an Anderson, S.C. native, was recruited by Sgt. Rusty L. Sims, a recruiter from Permanent Contact Station Greenwood, Recruiting Station Columbia. Recruit training signifies the transformation of a civilian to a United States Marine. Upon graduation, the newly-minted Marines will receive ten days of leave before attending the School of Infantry East, Camp Gieger, N.C.
