Marines grab a hook hanging from a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter to attach to a Humvee Oct. 7 here. The training, known as external-lift training, was completed by the pilot and crew of the CH-53E, and the landing support specialists. To conduct the training, the aircraft was brought to a hover above the Humvee, allowing the Marines below to attach hooks to the harness around the vehicle. The Marines are landing support specialists with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The aircraft is with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III MEF, under the unit deployment program.
