Capt. Jean-Michel Caffin of the French Army Reserve pins the Legion of Honor Medal onto an American World War II veteran aboard the USS Bataan during the Legion of Honor Ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., May 7, 2016. During the ceremony the Consulate General of France, Philippe Létrilliart, awarded nine American veterans with the Legion of Honor Medal for their heroic actions during the invasion of Normandy. The purpose of the event was to remember how important it is to pay tribute to the veterans who served so valiantly and also to highlight the long-standing friendship between the United States and France.
