Marines and Sailors with Task Force Koa Moana 17 transport dirt in order to assist an archaeological team at a World War II mass grave excavation, June 13, 2017, in Betio Island, Tarawa Atoll, Kiribati. The Marines and Sailors that assisted were unable to work with the fragile bones of the deceased, so they assisted with back-filling holes and transporting dirt. No photos of the remains were taken in order to respect the deceased and their families.
