A ceremonial actor portraying the king of the West signals the start of the 49th annual Naha Great Tug-of-War Festival, Oct. 13, 2019 at Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The event symbolizes a struggle between warring factions during the reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom on Okinawa. The event is considered the world’s largest tug-of-war, using a 200-meter-long, 43-ton rope.
