The attached presentation (PPT) depicts the assembly of the sea base in support of Haiti. This is presented to develop a common understanding of the Marine Expeditionary Unit / Amphibious Ready Group assured access capabilities.
1. The Navy-Marine Corps amphibious team provides maximum responsiveness and flexibility to the supported commander.
2. Seabasing reduces the footprint ashore; in a Humanitarian Assistance /Disaster Relief situation, that's key.
3. Seabasing allows the commander to employ forces ashore, then rapidly re-constitute or re-locate those forces as needed.
4. Seabasing is sustainable from the sea . . . no need to use airlift to support the force.
5. An amphibious force brings a mix of helicopters, amphibious vehicles, and surface craft that can move forces and supplies ship-to-shore rapidly on a 24/7 Basis.
