Members of the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference, a secretary of defense sponsored program, paid a visit to the service members currently stationed in Camp Buehring, April 26. The JCOC is comprised of American business, education and community leaders who traveled here to get an in-depth look at the military’s training and equipment. While here, the JCOC also received hands-on training with various weapon systems and vehicles. Sgt. Richard James, vehicle commander, Light Armored Reconnaissance Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Pendleton, Calif., gave Mr. Robert M. Simpson, Jr., president and chief operating officer of Jelly Belly Candy Company, an in-depth look at one of his platoon’s light armored vehicle. “We support you,” said Simpson to James. “I hope these words will guide you, wherever you go.”
