Sergeant Major 

Sergeant Major Scott T. Pile reported to Parris Island in April of 1991 for training with Company M, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion where he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class followed by Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejuene and graduation from Military Police School at Lackland, Air Force Base.   

In November 1991, he reported to Military Police Company, H&S Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group followed by service with Camp Pendleton’s 14 Area Guard, Brigade Service Support Group-1 and Combat Service Support Detachment’s 10, 11 & 15.  He deployed to Kuwait for Operation NATIVE FURY, Somalia for Operation RESTORE HOPE and participated in Joint Task Force-Los Angeles (JTF-LA) during the riots.  He also participated in numerous exercises including KERNEL RAIDER and multiple Combined Arms Exercises.  Throughout this period he served as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant and was meritoriously promoted to Corporal and Sergeant. 
In January 1995, he reported to Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego.  While serving as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor with Company E, 2d Recruit Training Battalion he received the Moral Leadership Award and was selected to Staff Sergeant in 1996.  In July 1997, he reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort McClellan serving as a Training Staff Noncommissioned Officer, Class Advisor, Instructor Trainer for all Defensive and Weapons Tactics and Non-Lethal Weapons and Military Police Operations Instructor.  In June of 1999, Sergeant Major Pile was selected to Gunnery Sergeant.    
 
In August 1999, he reported to H&S Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Okinawa with follow on assignment to serve aboard Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma as a Military Police Force Protection Planner, Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander.  In April 2000, he reported to Company B, H&S Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Okinawa to serve as the Company Gunnery Sergeant with additional duties as the Director of the Marine Corps Base Corporal’s Course and the Force Protection Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler.  He deployed in 2000 and 2001, serving as the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the 56th and 57th Annual Commemoration Ceremonies on the island of Iwo Jima. 

In August 2002, he reported to Military Police Company, H&S Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group and served as Company Gunnery Sergeant and First Sergeant.  In December 2002, he assumed the duties as Detachment Gunnery Sergeant, Military Police Detachment, Combat Service Support Battalion-10; Headquartered out of Twenty-Nine Palms.  In January 2003, he deployed to Kuwait and Iraq for Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM serving as Company Gunnery Sergeant and First Sergeant for Military Police Company, Combat Service Support Battalion-10, Combat Service Support Group-11 in direct support of the First Marine Division.  He was selected to First Sergeant in March of 2003. 

In July 2003, he reported to Combat Service Support Group-15, 1st Marine Logistics Group and served as First Sergeant for Supply Company.  In March 2004, he assumed the duties as Sergeant Major, Combat Service Support Group-15 (Rear) and 22 Area Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.  In September of 2004, he re-assumed duties as the First Sergeant for Supply Company and H&S Company.  In April of 2005, he assumed the duties as Sergeant Major, MEU Service Support Group-11, Brigade Service Support Group-1 and upon re-designation of the unit became the Sergeant Major, Combat Logistics Battalion-11, Combat Logistics Regiment-17 and 11th MEU (SOC) deploying to New Orleans, Louisiana and Gulfport, Mississippi as part of Joint Task Force-Katrina.  During WESTPAC, he also served as Sergeant Major of Troops, USS OGDEN (LPD 5). 

In September 2006, he assumed the duties as Inspector Sergeant Major, 1st Marine Logistics Group and was frocked to his present grade in December 2006.  In March of 2007, he assumed the duties as Sergeant Major, 2d Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, First Marine Division deploying to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from February to December 2008 and served concurrently as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Multi-National Force-West, G-9.  From July 2009 to May 2010, he served as the Sergeant Major, HMH-465, MAG-16.  He currently serves as the Sergeant Major, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. 
 
Sergeant Major Pile has graduated from the Noncommissioned Officer School (Distinguished Graduate and Leadership Award),  United States Army Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (Distinguished Graduate), Drill Instructor School (Honor Graduate), SNCO Career Course (Distinguished Graduate), SNCO Advance Course (Distinguished Graduate) and the Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff and the Senior Enlisted Joint PME Non-Resident Programs.  He has an Associates Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree (with Honors) and a Masters Degree in Administration.              
 
Sergeant Major Pile’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/three gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon w/gold star, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal w/bronze star.
