Flag raising ceremony conducted at local school in honor of veterans

The staff and students of Aviara Oaks Elementary School honored veterans from all branches of the military today.  Veterans were invited to attend a welcome reception, hosted by local cub scouts and girls scouts in the school auditorium. Immediately following the reception, the veterans were escorted to the school's flagpole where the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit color guard conducted a flag raising ceremony and a reading of the poem, "Old Glory".  The students sang the national anthem and all in attendance recognized our local veterans for their service and sacrifice to our country.
