The Marines and Sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) recently received Girl Scout cookies donated by the family of actor Bruce Willis while conducting a humanitarian assistance mission in the East African nation of Djibouti. Bruce Willis, at the suggestion of his daughter and her cousins Katie and Hayley Rogers, donated 12,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to U.S. service members deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 22nd MEU (SOC) Marines and Sailors embarked aboard the USS WASP Amphibious Ready Group received their cookies while conducting several Civil Affairs Projects in Northern Djibouti, including the rebuilding of a local school and the delivery of water to several impoverished regions.?This gesture by the Willis and Rogers? family is greatly appreciated by our Marines and Sailors,? said Col. Paul E Lefebvre, Commanding Officer for the 22nd MEU (SOC). ?This was certainly a morale boost for the troops in the field. Everybody always looks forward to the once a year delivery. Each Marine and Sailor received a box and with it a little piece of home? The 22nd MEU (SOC) acts as a forward presence in the Middle East region.
