| MCAGCC H1N1 (Swine Flu) Info |
Cases of the H1N1 (Swine) flu are still showing up in Southern California and nationwide.
We're following CDC guidelines for prevention, detection and treatment of the H1N1 virus. At this time, CDC recommends the primary means to reduce spread of influenza in schools and child care programs is early identification of ill students and staff, staying home when ill, and good cough and hand hygiene etiquette.
If you believe you or your child are ill, please consult your medical care professionals.

| What You Can Do to Stay Healthy |
Stay informed. The CDC website will be updated regularly as information becomes available. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- Stay home if you are sick for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.
- Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
- Develop a family emergency plan as a precaution. This should include storing a supply of food, medicines, facemasks, alcohol-based hand rubs and other essential supplies.
