Sergeant Major James R. Hagle
Sergeant Major, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122, MCAS Beaufort

James R. Hagle enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 1993 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. After completing Infantry Training School, he was assigned the MOS 0311 Rifleman.
In February 1994, Private First Class Hagle reported to 3d Battalion 8th Marines where he served as a rifleman, radio operator, and fire team leader through December 1995. During that assignment he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal while on deployment with the 24 MEU. He participated in OPERATIONS DENY FLIGHT and JOINT/DECISIVE ENDEAVOR.
In January 1996, Corporal Hagle reported to Marine Security Guard School, Quantico, Virginia. He served at American Embassy’s Bucharest, Romania and Nicosia, Cyprus as both watch stander and as the Assistant Detachment Commander billets. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in July 1998.
In October 1998, Staff Sergeant Hagle reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines. During this tour he fulfilled duties as Mortar Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and Company Gunnery Sergeant with Company L. During that assignment Staff Sergeant Hagle Participated in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM with the 26 MEU.
In June 2002, Staff Sergeant Hagle reported to Marine Detachment Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland where he served as a Platoon Sergeant. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 August 2003.
In August 2003, Gunnery Sergeant Hagle reported to Marine Barracks Washington D.C. where he served as a Distance Learning Instructor for the Marine Corps Institute. During this assignment, Gunnery Sergeant Hagle volunteered as an Individual Augment to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM where he served as the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Directorate of Police Sector Reform, Office of Military Cooperation. Upon Gunnery Sergeant Hagle’s return in May 2005, he was assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant and subsequently as the First Sergeant for Marine Security Company, Camp David, Maryland.
In July 2007, First Sergeant Hagle reported to 3rd Battalion 10th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was assigned as Battery I and in late 2010 as the HQ Battery First Sergeant. He deployed to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 08.1 and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 9.2.
In January 2011, First Sergeant Hagle reported to Marine Special Operations Regiment where he served as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant until January 2012. In February 2012 Sergeant Major Hagle reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 to serve as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
First Sergeant Hagle is a graduate of Infantry Training Battalion, Marine Security Guard School, SNCOA Career Course, Advance Mortar Leaders Course, Infantry Platoon Sergeants Course, SNCOA Advance Course, First Sergeants Course, SNCOA Senior Enlisted Course, and the Joint Senior Enlisted PME. Sergeant Major Hagle is also a graduate of the American Military University with a Bachelor of Arts in Security Management 2009.
First Sergeant Hagles’ awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Service Badge and numerous other unit/ service awards. |
