 COMMANDING OFFICER, 10TH MARINE REGIMENT

Bradley R. Hall

Col, USMC

 

Colonel Bradley Hall is a Florida native and graduate of Texas A&M University.  He is currently serving as the Commanding Officer of 10th Marine Regiment.  Following his commissioning in December 1988 he attended the Basic School and the Army’s Field Artillery School. 

His most recent operational tour was as Battalion Commander 2d Battalion, 11th Marines from June 2007 to June 2009.  During this tour he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom conducting Civil Affairs in Anbar Province with Multi-National Forces-West.  His other operational tours were from March 1990 to June 1993 as a Forward Observer, Platoon Commander and executive officer for Battery E, 2d Battalion, 12th Marines in Twentynine Palms, California.  He also served from June 1997 to Jun 2000 with 2d Battalion, 11th Marines as Commander, Battery E, Battalion Operations Officer, and Fire Support Coordinator to 5th Marine Regiment.  He has participated in Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM, RESTORE HOPE, ENDURING FREEDOM AND IRAQI FREEDOM.

He recently served from March 2010 to July 2011 as the Director, Marine Corps House Liaison Office. His other non-operational tours are from June 1993 to June 1996 as a Series and Company Commander 2d Recruit Training Battalion, Parris Island, South Carolina where he assisted in training more than 3000 recruits.  He has also served from June 2000 to June 2003 as a faculty advisor at the Amphibious Warfare School.  He was the primary instructor for fire support, military operations other than war, battle studies and staff rides.

His joint assignment was from June 2004 to June 2007 with United States Central Command as the Central Asian Branch Chief, Operations Directorate.  As the J3 lead Afghan/Pakistan planner he assisted in developing and executing a wide variety of plans to include counter narcotics, provincial reconstruction, training Afghan security forces, and the transition of security operations to NATO.

He is a graduate of the Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellowship Program working with the DuPont Corporation in Wilmington DE. He is also a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff Distance Education Program, School of Advance Warfighting and Joint Staff College.  He has master degrees in Management from Webster University and Operational Art from Marine Corps University. 

 

EXECUTIVE OFFICER, 10TH MARINE REGIMENT 

Keith E. Burkepile

Lieutenant Colonel Burkepile is originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania and is a 1992 graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1985 and attained the rank of Sergeant in the Marine Corp Reserve prior to attending Officer Candidates Course in January of 1994.  He immediately attended The Basic School and Officer Basic Course at Ft Sill which upon graduating he was given the designation of field artillery officer.

            His initial assignment was to Battery “I”, Third Battalion, Eleventh Marine Regiment where he served as a Forward Observer, Fire Direction Officer, and Executive Officer.  After two and a half years in Battery “I”, he was assigned as the battalion maintenance management officer/embarkation officer/S-4A. 

            In January of 1998, First Lieutenant Burkepile was transferred to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, Norfolk, Virginia and subsequently promoted to Captain.  He was assigned as a fire support instructor and course manager for the fire support coordination course.  He also instructed in the Tactical Air Control Party course that certified forward air controllers, Special Operations Spotters Course, and Supporting Arms Coordination Center Course.  In March of 2000, Captain Burkepile attended the Field Artillery Captains Career Course at Ft Sill Oklahoma.

In August of 2000, Captain Burkepile was assigned to First Battalion, Twelfth Marine Regiment in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  He initially served as Assistant Liaison Officer to Third Marine Regiment and then was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer.  Captain Burkepile assumed command of Battery “C” in November of 2001 and executed a unit deployment to Okinawa.  He relinquished command of Battery “C” in May of 2003. 

In June of 2003, Captain Burkepile was transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  He was assigned as Battalion Executive of Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment and subsequently promoted to Major in September 2003.  In March 2004, he was assigned as Director of Drill Instructor School and held that position until May of 2006.

In May of 2006, Major Burkepile was transferred to Officer Candidates School, Quantico Virginia.  He was assigned as Commander of Company “K”.  In July of 2006, Major Burkepile was assigned to as a student at the School of Advanced Warfighting and graduated in June of 2007 with a Masters Degree in Operational Studies.

In June of 2007, Major Burkepile was assigned as a planner in II Marine Expeditionary Force and immediately deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.  He was assigned as a Ground Combat Element planner, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).   He redeployed in February of 2008.  He again assumed duties as a planner in II Marine Expeditionary Force and was reassigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) in June of 2008.  Major Burkepile deployed in support of OIF 09 as the Deputy Team Chief/ Operations and Plans Officer for the Anbar Operations Command Advisor Team.   He redeployed in September 2009. 

Lieutenant Colonel Burkepile was promoted to his current rank in October 2009 and served as the commander of 2nd Battalion 10th Marines from 4 December 2009 to 22 November 2011.  He assumed duties as the 10th Marine Regiment Executive Officer on 5 December 2011.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Selective Marine Corps Reserve Medal. 

 

SERGEANT MAJOR, 10TH MARINE REGIMENT

 David J. Zhorne

Sergeant Major Zhorne reported for recruit training in June 1984 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California.  Upon completion of Recruit Training, Private Zhorne reported to Battery P, 4th Battalion, 11th Marines, in Twentynine Palms, California for on the job training (OJT) as a Field Artilleryman. In May 1987, he reported for duty with Battery F, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan.  In May of 1988, Corporal Zhorne reported back to Twentynine Palms, for duty with Battery N, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, as a howitzer section chief.

In June of 1990, Sergeant Zhorne was assigned to Nuclear Ordnance Platoon (NOP), 1st Force Service Support Group in Twentynine Palms.  Upon completion of NOP School in San Diego, he was assigned the secondary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 2362, Ground Nuclear Ordnance Technician.  During this tour, he served as an Assembly Technician and Classified Material Control Center Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) until the unit’s deactivation in March of 1991.  In March of 1991, Sergeant Zhorne reported to Battery I, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines, in Twentynine Palms for duty as a howitzer section chief.  While there, he completed two Unit Deployments (UDP) to 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan and participated in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia where he served as a squad leader in a provisional rifle company.

In October of 1994, Staff Sergeant Zhorne attended Drill Instructor School at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon completion, he was assigned as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor with Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and as Battalion Operations Chief in the battalion S-3.  In January of 1997, Staff Sergeant Zhorne again reported back to Twentynine Palms and served with Battery K, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines, as a Platoon Sergeant and Battery Gunnery Sergeant.  While there he completed one UDP with 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan. 

In June of 1999, Gunnery Sergeant Zhorne reported to the Inspector/Instructor Staff, Battery C, 1st Battalion, 14th Marines, in Waterloo, Iowa where he served as the Field Artillery Chief and Battery GySgt. In March 2002, he was selected to First Sergeant and was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division for duties as the Company First Sergeant and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom I.  Upon return to the states, he was reassigned as the First Sergeant for Weapons Company and completed another deployment to Iraq with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. 

In April of 2005, First Sergeant Zhorne was assigned to Golf Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California and then Headquarters and Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion as both the Company First Sergeant and then Battalion Sergeant Major until his selection to Sergeant Major in November 2005. In April 2006, Sergeant Major Zhorne was assigned as the battalion Sergeant Major for 2nd Tank Battalion, 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  In February 2009, Sergeant Major Zhorne reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3d Marine Logistics Group in Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Regimental Sergeant Major.

In October of 2011, Sergeant Major Zhorne was appointed as the 10th Marines Regimental Sergeant Major.

His personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal w/one gold star in lieu of second award; Navy Commendation Medal w/two gold star’s in lieu of third award and one combat distinguishing device; Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/one gold star in lieu of second award; and Combat Action Ribbon w/one gold star in lieu of second award.
