Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines
LtCol Steven M. Wolf

 

 

 

 

 

 




Lieutenant Colonel Wolf was born on 24 October 1970 in Williams AFB, AZ. He attended
the United States Air Force Academy, graduating in 1992 as a Distinguished Graduate with a
Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. While at the academy, he earned his Freefal Parachutist badge, and completed USMC Officer Candidate School.

Following graduation, Lieutenant Colonel Wolf was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and attended The Basic School, where he was an Honor Graduate and completed Infantry Officer Course. Upon completion of training, he was assigned to 3D Battalion, 3D Marines in Kaneohe Bay, HI, where he served as Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander and Rifle Company Commander. Following his PCS to Weapons and Field Training Battalion (WFTBn), Camp Pendleton, he served as Company Executive OFficer and the Assistant Battalion Operations Officer.

While at WFTBn, then Captain Wolf was selected as an Olmsted Scholar. He attended the Basic German Language Course at the Defense Language Insititute, graduating on the Dean's List, and then studied political science for two years at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Upon completion of the Olmsted Program, Captain Wolf returned to 3D Battalion, 2D Marines as a company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer, and was promoted to Major.

After Departing Hawaii, Major Wolf assumed command of Recruiting Station Nashville in April 2004, successfully completed his tour on recruiting duty in June 2007. Lieutenant Colonel Wolf then served as the Global Force Management Action Officer and Cell Chief at Headquarters, USEUCOM, Stuttgart, Germany. While at EUCOM, he was promoted to his present rank.

Lieutenant Colonel Wolf departed EUCOM in June 2009, and was assigned as the Operations Officer for 2D Marines. In this billet, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from January 2010 toi February 2011. Lieutenant Colonel Wolf most recently served as the Executive Officer for 2D Marines from July 2011 to March 2012.

He is married and has three children.

Sergeant Major Nicholas A. Deabreu is a native of Georgetown Guyana and immigrated to the United States in 1978. He graduated from Amityville Memorial High School in Amityville, New York and in April 1991, he enlisted into the Marine Corps and attended Marine Corps Recruit Training.  Following basic training at Paris Island, he attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger and was then sent to MOS school in Meridian Mississippi.  Upon graduation he was assigned to MALS-14 Cherry Point where he served as an expeditor responsible for the readiness of 12 flying squadrons.

In 1993, LCpl Deabreu deployed with VMAQ-2 to Iwaquni Japan for a UDP deployment cycle attached to MALS 12.  Upon his return Cpl Deabreu was sent to Corporals course where he was a distinguished graduate.  In 1996 Sgt Deabreu redeployed with VMAQ-2 to Aviano Italy in support of Operation Joint Endeavour.

Sgt Deabreu was assigned to Inspector Instructor duty MALS 49 Det B in January of 1998 where he served as a Burial team leader. He also served as a liaison to the local schools volunteering at Carmel High School helping to develop their JROTC program.  In June of 1999 he deployed in support of Operation Northern Watch to Incerlik Turkey with Aerial Refueler Squadron 452. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December of 1999.

In 2001 Staff Sergeant Deabreu volunteered for Drill instructor duty and reported to DI school onParris Island in January of 2002 class 2-02.  Upon completion of Drill Instructor school he was sent to leatherneck square to be trained as a MAI green belt instructor.  Upon completion of the MAI course he was assigned to 2nd Recruit training battalion Fox Company to serve as a Drill Instructor.

He served as a Green Belt drill instructor, a Senior Drill Instructor, a Company Operations Chief, andas a Series Gunnery Sergeant while assigned to Fox  Company.  Gunnery Sergeant Deabreu was selected in March of 2004 to serve as an instructor at Drill Instructor school.  Gunnery Sergeant Deabreu taught the General knowledge package, uniforms package and served as the Curriculum Developer for the School for a period of 1 year.  During this time he assisted in rewriting the Program of Instruction for Drill Instructor School while still fulfilling the duties of a squad instructor.

In May of 2005 Gunnery Sergeant Deabreu was again reassigned to Inspector Instructor duty Newburgh New York to serve as the Supply Chief, Armory Chief, and Automated Information Systems Department Chief.  In December of 2005 he was selected to First Sergeant and was assigned in October of 2006 to 2D Combat Engineer Battalion as Company A First Sergeant. He deployed in support of OIF 06-08 attached to RCT-6 and transitioning to RCT-1 supporting all route clearing operations within the area of operation.

In May of 2008 First Sergeant Deabreu was reassigned to 3Bn 9th Marine Regiment to help establish the Battalion and serve as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. He was then reassigned to Lima Company and given the responsibility of running COL Ubaydi until its transition to the 23 Air Cavalry of the United States Army.  In February of 2010 he was reassigned to 2d Tank battalion and served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. In April of 2011, he was reassigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines where he is still currently assigned.

His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal with four Gold Stars.
